BJP repeats only 36 of 142 former corporators for AMC polls

The BJP has repeated only 36 of the 142 corporators who had won the AMC elections last time. Of the 36 corporators who have been repeated 35, have been repeated in the same ward from which they had won.

Sarkhej ward’s corporator Arvind Parmar although repeated will now contest from Jodhpur ward as per the list released by the BJP for the AMC polls.

The prominent AMC leaders who have not got a ticket include former mayor Bijal Patel, former AMC chairman Gautam Patel, Meenaxi Patel, and former Vasna ward corporator and mayor Amit Shah.

Former deputy mayor, Dinesh Makwana, Bipin Sikka, and Ramesh Desai have also not got a ticket. Former standing committee chairman Amul Bhatt and Pravin Patel have also been denied a ticket this time.

Bipin Patel, Rashim Shah, Jignesh Patel, Gautam Kathiriya, Krushnavadan Patel, Pushpaben Mistry, Renuka Patel, Ramesh Desai are some of the former committee members who have been kept out of the race.

Who are BJP’s repeat candidates for AMC elections

Of the candidates who have been repeated, only Bodakdev ward has seen a repeat of all four candidates. 16 wards of AMC have been given all new candidates for the upcoming polls.

Bhavnaben Vaghela is the only candidate to be repeated in the Nava Vadaj ward while two corporators of Ghatlodia ward – Jatin Patel and Bhavna Patel – have been repeated.

Gitaben Patel and Jayesh Patel in Naranpura ward, Mukesh Mistry, Pradeep Dave in Stadium ward, Parul Patel in Gota, Rajeshri Panchal, and Bharat Patel in Chandloida are some of the candidates who have been repeated.

Others who have been repeated include Arunsinh Rajput (Chandkheda), Chetan Patel (Sabarmati) Bhaviben Panchal (Ranip) Kanchan Panjwani (Sardarnagar) Alka Mistry (Naroda) Pratibha Jain (Shahibaug) Rekha Chauhan & Jagdish Datnia (Shahpur) Baldev Patel (Nikol) Ashwin Petha (Bapunagar) Vandana Shah (Navrangpura) Dilip Bagdia & Rakesh Thakor (Vejalpur) among others.
