In Gujarat due to unseasonal rainfall the farmers had suffered a crop failure. On this issue all the elected members of the ruling BJP party in the state are openly criticizing the government for its handling. On Tuesday BJP MP from Jamnagar, Poonam Madam raised her question on the issue of delay in the payment of crop failure compensation by insurance companies in the parliament today.
However, MP said that the main purpose of the crop insurance policy (Fasal Bima Yojna) was to provide protection to the farmers against the crop failures due to floods, scarcity and other natural calamities. However, due to lack of co-operation and incomplete crop damage surveys by insurance companies, farmers are not getting their rightful compensation.
Poonam Madam had presented the Pakwima issue to the Minister of Agriculture to intervene quickly. She said that despite of all the efforts insurance companies are not giving the compensation to the farmers those who had suffered the losses because of unseasonal rainfall. She further said that if this things continues the dream of doubling the income of the farmers by 2022 will not be achieved so the monopoly of the insurance companies should be stopped so the future of the farmers can be bright.
