One more MLA of the BJP has tested positive for COVID-19. Waghodia MLA Madhu Srivastav is undergoing treatment at a private hospital for COVID-19 after testing positive for the disease.
Earlier Madhu Srivastav’s personal assistant had tested positive for COVID-19 and later succumbed to the disease. Those who have come in contact with the MLA have been quarantined.
In all, Vadodara has recorded 121 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with the total number of cases at 8185. 2,379 tests were carried out in the district. It also recorded one death due to the disease taking the total fatality to 143. So far 6,455 COVID-19 patients have been cured in the district.
Over 15 Guj MLAs have tested positive so far
In Gujarat over 15 MLAs have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. While most have managed to beat the disease, some like Congress’ Bharatsinh Solanki continue to be in hospital.
Earlier Ahmedabad West BJP MP Dr Kirit Solanki and the party’s youth leader and MLA from Surat Harsh Sanghavi had tested positive for COVID-19.

Both had tweeted about their status and urged those who came in contact with them to get tested.
BJP MLAs who tested positive include Nimaben Acharya. Kishore Chauhan, Purnesh Modi, Balram Thavani, Jagdish Panchal, Ketan Inamdar, VD Jhalawadia and minister Raman Patkar.
Some of the other MLAs who have tested positive for the disease include Petlad Congress MLA Niranjan Patel and Jamalpur MLA Imran Khedawala. Other Congress MLAs to test positive are Chirag Kalariya, Geniben Thakor, Kanti Kharadi among others.
COVID-19 in Gujarat
Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 97,745 as the state recorded 1,310 new cases. The state has carried out 78,070 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,131 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 80.73%. The state has in all recorded 15,796 active cases of which 92 are on ventilator support.
The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat and four in Ahmedabad. Vadodara recorded two deaths while Gir Somnath and Jamnagar had one each.
