- Krishna Kalyani had resigned from BJP earlier this month
Kolkata: Krishna Kalyani, the BJP MLA from Raiganj in West Bengal, has joined the All India Trinamool Congress, joining the list of leaders who made the switch since the TMC returned to power in the state in the Assembly elections held this year.
“We extend a warm welcome to Shri Krishna Kalyani, who joined us today in the presence of Shri @itspcofficial & Shri @VivekGuptaAITC. Inspired by the huge mandate that people of Bengal bestowed upon @MamataOfficial, he has decided to REJECT @BJP4Bengal and their propaganda,” the All India Trinamool Congress said in its tweet.
Krishna Kalyani had resigned from BJP earlier this month after being served show cause notice for speaking against BJP MP from Raiganj Debasree Chaudhuri. He had accused Chaudhuri of hatching a conspiracy against him and had said he would not remain in the same party as the MP.
Ahead of his resignation from the Saffron Party, Krishna Kalyani had said that he had conveyed his resentment to the party leadership and would have to take a decision if his concerns were not addressed.
Recently, BJP MP Babul Supriyo joined TMC, weeks after resigning from BJP.
