In a gross defiance of COVID-19 related safety norms, a video of a BJP MLA in Maharashtra has gone viral in which he along with his family and friends are seen dancing at a pre-wedding event of his daughter.  After the video went viral, a case has been registered by the police against the saffron party MLA from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mahesh Landge, along with 60 others.

The video clip is reportedly of Sunday evening in which a huge crowd, including the BJP MLA, is seen celebrating and dancing. Maharashtra, which is the worst-affected state due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has put a ban on mega wedding celebrations. As per the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, a maximum of 25 people can gather for a wedding in the state amid the pandemic.

Norms violated by BJP MLA

District officials said social distancing norms were violated, people were not wearing masks and the event was held without taking prior permission from the district administration.
