Britain has confirmed, to help counter Russian aggression, it is providing long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine. According to British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, Britain is “donating” Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine. According to Wallace, Russia is intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Hospitals have been targeted mainly in January with comparison of earlier six months.

Storm Shadow is a long-range sophisticated missile with a strike range of over 250 km. It can be fired from aircraft also. Britain said that the supply of the missiles would help Ukraine to push the Russian army back from its territory. Defence Secretary Wallace, in a statement to the House of Commons, said, “ Today I can confirm that the UK has donated Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine.”
“The donation of these weapons systems gives Ukraine the best chance to defend themselves against Russia’s continued brutality. He added,” Ukraine has a right to be able to defend itself against this and the use of Storm Shadow will allow Ukraine to push back Russian forces based within Ukrainian sovereign territory.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been seeking such weapons since the country’s conflict began last year, but his international supporters have been reluctant to supply Ukraine long-range weapons. These countries feel that doing so their relations with Russia may worsen. But Wallace said Prime Minister Rishi Sunak decided to provide Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine because Russia is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure.
