Biden approves $350 million in military assistance to Ukraine

Washington DC: The United States President Joe Biden on Friday approved $350 million in military assistance to Ukraine.

According to the White House, Biden authorised the Secretary of State Antony Blinken “to direct the drawdown of up to an aggregate value of $350 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training…” under the Foreign Assistance Act 1961.

With no let-up in sight from the Russian side, Ukraine President Volodymr Zelenskyy has requested for help with ammunition.

He also reportedly rejected the US’s offer to evacuate him, saying he needed anti-tank ammunition, not a ride.

In a separate statement, Biden said the US would defend every inch of NATO territory and that he had ordered deployment of additional forces to augment their capabilities in Europe to support their NATO allies.

He said he talked to Zelenskyy and told him about the economic, humanitarian and security support being provided by the US.
