2 cops gunned down in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara by opium mafia


Two policemen in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district were gunned down on Saturday night in two separate incidents allegedly by the opium mafia that is very active in the area. The two cops tried to stop the sports utility vehicle of the opium dealers at two different points in Bhilwara after which the dealers gunned down the cops.

According to a report, the first incident took place in village Kotri in Bhilwara district near the famous Charbhuja temple. It is learnt that on Saturday night a Scorpio and two other cars tried to get past the checkpoint and when the police tried to stop it they fired on the policemen.

The unarmed policemen were not prepared for this sudden attack on them. A bullet hit a constable Onkar Raika who fell after receiving the bullet injury. He was rushed to the hospital at Bhilwara but he died.

Second incident happened in Raila in Bhilwara

The second incident happened at Raila, about 40 km away from the site of the first incident, and in this case too, an SUV was involved.

According to reports, the police tried to check the opium mafia who were in the car at the check post when they opened fire on the patrolling policemen. During the firing, a bullet hit constable Pawan Choudhry who died on his way to the hospital.

The police believed that the second incident also involved the opium smugglers. The police have cordoned off the entire Bhilwara districts and the search is on for the killers.
