After comedian Bharti Singh’s arrest on Saturday, her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday for allegedly possessing and consuming marijuana. Haarsh Limbachiyaa was arrested after being questioned for nearly 15 hours by the NCB.

Notably, the couple’s home was searched on Saturday by the anti-drugs agency. NCB officials claimed that 86.5 grams cannabis was found in their Andheri home after which they were taken to the NCB’s Mumbai office for further questioning.

NCB had said that both Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa accepted consuming ganja and both have been arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1986.

Although the quantity of drugs seized from the couple’s home does not fall under the commercial category, it still invites imprisonment up to 10 years, NCB officials said.

Judicial custody till Dec 4

Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa were produced at the Quilla court on Sunday afternoon. The court sent them to judicial custody till December 4. While Bharti Singh has been taken to Kalyan jail, Haarsh Limbachiyaa has been sent to Taloja prison.

However, now they have secured bail and are likely to be freed soon.
