Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight from Bengaluru with 137 passengers onboard made an emergency landing at Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad in Telangana today.

IndiGo airlines flight heading to Varanasi from Bengaluru was forced to make an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Telangana due to a technical issue on Tuesday morning, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said.
According to Hindustan Times report, the flight, 6E897, departed from Bengaluru but it was redirected to Shamshabad airport and landed at 6:15am. All 137 passengers on board the flight are confirmed to be safe, the DGCA said. A senior official has reported that the DGCA has launched an investigation into the matter, while further information regarding the incident is still pending.
IndiGo in its official statement said, “IndiGo flight 6E897 from Bengaluru to Varanasi was diverted to Hyderabad as a precaution. The pilot noticed a technical issue and diverted to Hyderabad as a precaution” The aircraft is currently at Hyderabad and is undergoing necessary inspection. To avoid any further delays, An alternate aircraft was provided for the passengers to be flown to Vanarasi. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers,” the official statement added.
