BCCI announces Rs 5 cr bonus for team India after victory in Australia


BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has announced a Rs 5 crore bonus for the Indian team for defeating Australia in the Gabba Test and winning a Test series—a win that will remain in the history of India cricket forever. Hailing the victory as a remarkable win, Ganguly said the value of the win is beyond any number.

The former Indian captain tweeted, “Just a remarkable win…To go to Australia and win a test series in this way ..will be remembered in the history of Indian cricket forever ..BCCI announces a Rs 5 cr bonus for the team ..The value of this win is beyond any number ..well done to every member of the touring party..”

This is the first time that Australia has been beaten in 32 years at Gabba. Australia was last defeated at Gabba by West Indies in 1988. Since then, Australia has played 31 matches at the venue and won 24, and has drawn 7.

PM Modi praises team India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised the Indian cricket team for the victory and said that the country is overjoyed at its success in Australia. He also praised the team for exhibiting stellar intent, remarkable grit and determination.

PM Modi tweeted, “We are all overjoyed at the success of the Indian Cricket Team in Australia. Their remarkable energy and passion was visible throughout. So was their stellar intent, remarkable grit and determination. Congratulations to the team! Best wishes for your future endeavours.”

As soon as the Indian team defeated Australia at Gabba, congratulatory messages started pouring in for the team from across the world.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai congratulated India for “one of the greatest test series wins ever” in a tweet. Businessman Harsh Goenka said, “What a victory! This Indian team enters amongst the PANTheons of one of the most gutsy, resilient and greatest teams ever.” This apart, the team was also congratulated by various sports personalities, politicians and people from all walks of life.
