Barabanki: 9 killed, 27 injured in truck-bus collision


Lucknow: A bus collided head-on with a truck in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning, leaving nine persons dead and 27 others injured.

The private bus was going to Bahraich from Delhi.

Such was the collision that both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.

The incident took place in the Dewa police station area, the Barabanki police said.

Those who were critically injured were sent to KGMU trauma centre in Lucknow, said the district magistrate of Barabanki.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lkah to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

“Anguished by the road accident in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. Condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Prayers with the injured. Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured,” he tweeted.

President Ram Nath Kovind, too, posted a tweet expressing grief at the mishap.
