- At the launch, PM Modi said Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has the power to revolutionize India’s healthcare sector
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission via video conferencing on Monday morning.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will offer health ID for all citizens. This ID will also work as their health account, the PM said.
Today is a very important day for India in the 21st century Our health sector is entering a new phase that will change the country’s health landscape,” PM Modi said while launching the mission. He added that it would further enhance the goals of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and had the power to revolutionize the healthcare sector of the country.
“Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will create a seamless online platform through the provision of a wide-range of data, information and infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring the security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information,” said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office
The Mission will enable access and exchange of longitudinal health records of citizens with their consent, it added.
Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and others from the government as well as private and government medical practitioners joined the programme.
On the occasion, Mandaviya said, “The entire country will reap the benefit of this dimension of digital revolution.”
