Ayesha suicide: Family says she suffered a miscarriage after being beaten by her husband

The family of Ayesha, the woman who committed suicide by jumping into the Sabarmati River, has made some shocking revelations in a press conference held today. A video of Ayesha bidding adieu before jumping into the river was made viral by her father who tried desperately to convince her to return.

The police are on the lookout for Ayesha’s husband Arif and in-laws for encouraging her to commit suicide.
Ayesha’s father has accused her in-laws of beating her. He alleged that his daughter had lost a pregnancy because of the beating she suffered at the hands of Arif.

He alleged that after Ayesha suffered the miscarriage, the family returned her home and then demanded Rs5 lakh as dowry. He said since the family did not have the money they paid them Rs2.5 lakh.

The father also demanded that a special team be formed to look into the matter and that the case be tried in a fast-track court. They said efforts need to be made to ensure that no other woman is subject to such harassment.
