Ayesha Suicide: Court grants 3 days remand of husband Arif


A local court in Ahmedabad on Wednesday granted remand of three days to accused husband Aarif Khan, who allegedly abetted the suicide of his wife Aayesha Makrani (23).

Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court has granted remand of accused Aarif Khan up to March 6. The investigating officer had sought five days remand of the accused but the court granted only 3 days of remand. The accused husband who was on run after the suicide was held by the Gujarat Police from Pali in Rajasthan.

The police submitted before the court that they needed the accused’s remand to probe where he has hidden his mobile phone. They said they also need to find out where he had been living and who had been helping him.

The accused allegedly had an affair with another woman, the police have said. It is also alleged that Ayesha’s in-laws suspected her of being immoral. Although it is yet to be investigated.

Ayesha suicide case

Ayesha died by suicide after making a video in which she told of being harassed by her husband. After the video went viral on social media her husband was booked under various sections of IPC including abetment of suicide.

Earlier Ayesha’s father had alleged that she had suffered a miscarriage after Arif hit her while she was pregnant.

Sources in the know said Arif was not happy with his wife and had relations with another woman. He had also reportedly told her about the same. Sources said Arif called her the ‘spare wheel’ and that he would talk with the other woman while his wife was present.
