Gujarat on Friday recorded 687 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest ever single day jump in cases recorded since the pandemic began in the state. It has also been recording over 600 cases for a week now. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 34,686 while the death toll is 1,906. The state recorded 18 new deaths due to the disease of which 10 were in Ahmedabad, five in Surat, two in Kheda and one in Panchmahals.
Ahmedabad recorded 204 new cases of which 195 were within city limits. With this the total number of cases and deaths in the district now stand at 21,543 and 1,466 respectively. Surat, Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 204, 62, and 16 new cases respectively. The total number of cases in Surat stands at 5,461while it is 2,443 and 692 for Vadodara and Gandhinagar. The death toll in Surat so far is 172, 51 for Vadodara and 31 for Gandhinagar. The state has 7,839 active cases so far.
