Gujarat on Thursday recorded 681 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest ever single day jump in cases recorded since the pandemic began in the state. It has also been recording over 600 cases for close to a week now. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 33,999 while the death toll is 1,888. The state recorded 19 new deaths due to the disease of which seven were in Ahmedabad, four in Surat, two in Vadodara and one each in Junagadh, Patan, Mehsana, Kheda, Valsad and Surendranagar.
Ahmedabad recorded 211 new cases of which 202 were within city limits. With this the total number of cases and deaths in the district now stand at 21,339 and 1,456 respectively. Surat, Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 227, 57, and seven new cases respectively. The total number of cases in Surat stands at 5,257 while it is 2,381 and 676 for Vadodara and Gandhinagar. The death toll in Surat so far is 167, 51 for Vadodara and 31 for Gandhinagar. The state has 7,510 active cases so far.
