- 7-phase Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, 2 in Manipur and single-phase polls for Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand
New Delhi: The Assembly elections in five states of the country, namely Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab, will be held between February 10 and March 7, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra announced on Saturday.
Elections in Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand will be held in a single phase, while there will be two phases for Manipur and seven for Uttar Pradesh.
The first phase of UP elections will be held on February 10. In the second phase, Assembly elections will be held in all states except Manipur on February 14.
The third and fourth phases of UP elections will be held on February 20 and 23 respectively.
The fifth phase of IP polls, which will also be the first phase for Manipur, will be on February 27.
The sixth phase of UP polls and second of Manipur will be on March 3.
The final phase of elections, which will be for UP, will be held on March 7.
Counting on March 10
The counting of votes will be carried out on March 10.
No election rally till January 15
Taking note of the spurt in Covid-19 cases across the country, CEC Sushil Chandra said that no election rally or such campaigning would be allowed anywhere till January 15. After that the EC will review the situation and issue further orders.
The elections will be held amid strict adherence to Covid protocol, Chandra emphaised.
