Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: Following the poll rally in Ahmedabad on February 7, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi will once again visit Gujarat on February 23. Owaisi will be visiting the state to campaign for the AIMIM candidates in the second phase of local body elections.

Owaisi will hold two public meetings—one in Modasa and the other in Godhra— on February 23. The Modasa public meeting is scheduled at 4 pm, whereas the Godhra meeting will be held at around 8 pm. Notably, the AIMIM is contesting the local body polls from a few seats in both Modasa and Godhra.

Whether Owaisi will also visit Ahmedabad or not is yet not clear. AIMIM’s two representatives –Imtiyaz Jaleel and Waris Pathan – were campaigning for the party in the AMC elections for which voting is going on.

Owaisi had in a public meeting on February 7 said that the Congress and BJP are like “mama– bhanja”. Congress in turn has accused the AIMIM of being BJP’s B-team. AIMIM may not win but will emerge as a strong voice for the classes, he had said.

Owaisi further said that if AIMIM wins from the seats from which it is contesting, it will ensure that the voice of the voters is heard. If their issues are not resolved, then he will come and protest for them Gujarat, the Hyderabad MP had said.

AIMIM has appointed ex-MLA Sabir Kabliwala as its state chief in Gujarat.
