As COVID-19 cases surge in Surat, posters of ‘missing’ MOS Health surface in city

As Surat records more cases than Ahmedabad, posters have surfaced in the Diamond City stating that minister of state for health, Kishore Kannani has gone missing. The posters informing about the missing MoS Health has been put up by the Aam Aadmi Party in Varachha and Sarthana areas of Surat.

“The health minister has gone missing, if anyone finds him please bring him to the Surat Civil Hospital,” the posters read. It should be noted that Surat has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, next only to Ahmedabad. The city has for two days recorded more cases than Ahmedabad. On Thursday, Surat recorded 227 cases against just 211 in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat on Thursday recorded 681 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the total to 33,999 and death toll to 1,888. Surat has so far recorded 5,257 cases and 167 deaths due to the disease. On Thursday the district saw four deaths due to the disease, the second highest after Ahmedabad.
