Health secretary Jayanti Ravi is in Jamnagar to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the district. The district has been recording a surge in COVID-19 cases in the last many days. Ravi attended a meeting with municipal commissioner Satish Patel and other health department officials to discuss the strategies to minimise the spread of COVID-19 in the city. She also held a meeting with the district officials and sought details of the COVID-19 activities and measures taken by the administration so far.
Ravi is likely to visit Rajkot by evening and later the next day will be holding a meeting with the Rajkot Municipal Commissioner and other health officials of the city.
Gujarat on Sunday recorded 879 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 41,906 and death toll at 2,047. Jamnagar has so far recorded 349 cases and 9 deaths while Rajkot has recorded 655 cases and 17 deaths since the pandemic began.
