New Delhi: Countering the BJP’s “revdi” comments, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal retorted those who called free education, healthcare and power “freebies” were traitors of the country. He demanded free education, healthcare, 300 units of electricity and unemployment compensation in the entire country.

Kejriwal has been promising free access to high-class government-run education and health infrastructure as well as 300 units of electricity in election-bound states, a poll pitch he had used in Punjab as well.

However, the BJP has called such “freebies” unsustainable, poking fun at Kejriwal for promising free “revdi” and calling him “Revdiwal”.

“The current atmosphere in the country is that everything must be paid for. Ministers can get free power, but common people cannot,” he said. “These people waived off Rs 10 lakh crore debt of a few people. But they are not talking about that.  Shouldn’t our children get free education with government money?” he asked, addressing a live online conference.

There should have been a plan wherein we make excellent government schools in next five years. That would have been the celebration of 75 years of independence in the true sense, he added.

He took a dig at hike in GST, saying there is GST on all edible items, but taxes have been waived for a select few people

“I demand from the government that free and good education, healthcare, 300 units of electricity and unemployment compensation be provided across the country,” he said.
