The second full budget of Modi government 2.0 will be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Looking at the Delhi Assembly elections, the Modi government can open a development box for Delhi. Last month, Kejriwal had asked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman not to let the model code of conduct stand in the way of making announcements that would benefit the national capital. Despite this government can walk the gamut of indirectly to Delhi through common decisions.
Kejriwal said on Twitter on Saturday morning ahead of the presentation of Budget, “The people of Delhi hope that centre will protect their interests in budget. Delhi should get more in the wake of Assembly elections. The Budget will tell us how much Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cares for Delhi.”
On January 6, announcing the date of Delhi legislative assembly elections, the Election Commission had stressed that the Centre will not declare any “state-specific schemes” in the national Budget, as the city is going to polls on February 8. However, Kejriwal had demanded that the Centre should announce a lot of things for the city in the Budget. In the budget presented today, FM will focus on increasing employment, creating demand in the market, improving the condition of farmers, eliminating auto sector problems, improving infrastructure. She can give gifts to government and private sector employees by making some special announcements regarding income tax.
