Ahmedabad: There was a fierce demonstration against the Citizenship Amendment Act in many areas of the country on Thursday. During this time, the protesters also carried out violence. Protesters pelted stones at policemen in Shah-e-Alam area of Ahmedabad due to which many police personnel were injured.
After meeting the injured police personnel, city police commissioner Ashish Bhatia had met and issued an order to take action against the stone pelting people. In the case of this violent protest, police along with Congress Corporator Shehzad Khan took 49 people into custody and registered an FIR against five thousand people.
In view of the atmosphere, the police patrolling in Ahmedabad has been increased. Along with this, heavy force has been deployed in sensitive areas.The police lobbed teargas shells to disperse the mob of around 2,000 persons.Protesters shouted slogans and held placards saying “No CAB No NRC”. When the police tried to disperse them, the protesters started throwing stones and brick pieces.
Many people have been injured in the violent protest in Shah-e-Alam area. 24 policemen, 3 media persons and one other people were injured and they were takenb to the LG hospital for the treatment. Out of this, 9 people received minor injuries. They got discharge after giving the First Aid. Apart from this, 19 people were admitted and among them four people were discharged after treatment. The rest are on undergoing treatment.
During the protest against the citizenship Act, several pictures of violent protests also came out of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Policemen were returning after a demonstration on Thursday, but a mob of miscreants surrounded them and started throwing stones.
