One more MLA from BJP has tested positive for COVID-19. Naroda BJP MLA, Balram Thavani has tested positive for the disease and has been admitted to the UN Mehta Hospital for treatment. Spokesperson for Ahmedabad city Congress, Dr Amit Nayak has also tested positive for the disease.
The city on May 31 registered 299 positive cases and 20 deaths due to the disease. The city has so far recorded 12,180 COVID-19 cases.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dinesh Sharma had tested positive for COVID-19. His son also tested positive following which his wife was put under home quarantine.
City BJP chief and Nikol MLA Jagdish Panchal had also tested positive for the disease and was under treatment at the Apollo Hospital which had created a controversy as to why the BJP leader was not getting treated at Civil Hospital where the government said all facilities are up to the mark.
Congress corporator of Hatkeshwar-Bhaipura ward Ilakshiben Patel had also tested positive for the disease recently while former Congress leader and city corporator, Badruddin Sheikh had succumbed to the illness. Congress MLA Imran Khedawala had also tested positive for the disease and had been successfully treated.
