Ahmedabad/New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Gujarat on Thursday for a two-day stay. He will be performing the ‘Mangala Arti’ at Jagannath temple at dawn on Friday, July 1, the day of the annual rathyatra. The yatra will begin at 7 am.
Amit Shah will also address a public gathering at Rupal village in Gandhinagar.
During his stay here, he is scheduled to dedicate to public the development works in Modasar village in Ahmedabad and also address the gathering.
The 145th rathyatra in the city comes after a break of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, the chariots had been taken out, but without the usual processions and public. The year before that, they had been moved within the temple premises for a symbolic yatra. This year, permission has been granted for a full-fledged yatra.
