Home Minister Amit Shah has called a meeting of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and representatives of various political parties at 12 o’clock in the midst of violence in the northwest areas of Delhi since Monday.
After the meeting, Kejriwal said, “Everyone wants that the violence be stopped. The Home Minister had called a meeting today, it was a positive one. It was decided that all the political parties will ensure that peace returns to our city.”
Some people set fire to the tire market in Gokulpuri. All schools have been kept closed due to violent incidents. Delhi Metro has also decided to keep the metropolitan stations closed. The death toll in the ongoing violence in northeast Delhi has increased to seven. The Injured are being treated in other hospitals including GTB Hospital.
Protesters for and against the Citizenship Amendment Act threw stones, set vehicles and shops ablaze and transformed parts of the national capital into a war zone, forcing the deployment of paramilitary forces and the banning of large gatherings in affected areas.
