Deepak Mashla, Ahmedabad: There may be uncertainty over when schools will reopen amid the Covdi19 pandemic in the state, but that has not prevented schools from demanding fee from parents for the first semester.
Satellite-based Anand Niketan International School has joined the list of those who want students to pay their first semester fee. Earlier, the government had assured that schools will not pressurise parents to pay the fees. The demand for fees has put many parents in a quandary as they themselves battle job loss and pay cut.
A parent, who was among those who received the fee notice from the schools, said that the yearly fee for the child is over Rs2 lakh per year and we have already been asked to pay Rs52000 as first installment of the same.
The parent alleged that the school also threatened to cancel the admission if the fee was not paid. The parent argued that since the school was shut down and studies were not going on, there was no question of expenses for the school hence it is not known what is the urgent need to extort fees immediately.
