The special drive by AMC to look for COVID-19 cases in offices, construction sites and other places resulted in 28 of 150 saints and workers of Swaminarayan Temple (BAPS) in Shahibaug being found positive for COVID-19.
The AMC has in the last many days carried out on-site COVID-19 tests at private companies and construction sites to check for undetected cases.
In the temple, apart from the saints, the security guard and staff also tested positive. All the people who tested positive have been quarantined in the temple while some have been shifted to hospital for treatment.
At various construction sites in the city, the AMC tested 810 labourers of which five tested positive. This includes three in the South Zone and two in the Central Zone. Nine positive cases were also detected from the office of Navneet Education Limited.
In all 42 positive cases were detected during the special drive. 93 construction sites were issued notices by the AMC in connection with COVID-19 cases. The AMC has been testing labourers at these sites to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many were issued notices for failing to follow the norms.
Of the seven zones in the city, 18 notices were issued to various sites in North West Zone, 11 in South West Zone, 8 in East Zone, 36 in North Zone, 18 in South Zone and 2 in Central Zone.
Most COVID-19 cases in A’bad in AMC limits
Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Wednesday touched 1,00,375 as the state recorded 1,325 new cases. The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease including three in Ahmedabad. Of the total deaths in Ahmedabad, all were recorded in AMC limits.
The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,726.
