- This is the third time in a week that the AMC has sealed major outlets
Even as the city and state record a rising number of COVID-19 cases, many units in Ahmedabad continue to flout the mask and social distancing norms.
The AMC has for the third time this week cracked down on three more units for violation of COVID-19 norms.
It has sealed the three units while a Torrent Collection Centre in Saijpur area has been fined Rs40,000 for the same.
Units that were sealed
Following a tip-off, the AMC carried out a surprise check at the Reliance Digital in Prahladnagar on Wednesday afternoon and sealed it for violation of COVID-19 norms.
A beauty salon- Enrich- in Maninagar was also sealed for the same reason.
Employees and visitors at the Brand Factory outlet in Shah Alam area were seen roaming inside without a mask and that too was sealed.
It has also issued a notice to all three units asking them to take requisite steps before the units can be unsealed.
The civic body has warned of legal action if the seal is broken without following the norms.
It should be noted that relaxations were given under Unlock 3.0 to businesses and shops in the city with the condition that they will have to follow COVID-19 norms.
This included employees and customers having to wear masks at all times and maintaining social distancing.
The AMC began a drive from Rakshabandhan to nab those who were found violating the norms.
It first sealed the Ahmedabad One Mall in Vastrapur and then on Tuesday sealed the McDonald’s restaurant in Vastrapur as well as the office of one Saviour Pharma located at the corporate road.
All three units were sealed after employees and customers were found operating without a mask.
The AMC has been checking offices, shopping malls, and other establishments to see if COVID-19 norms are being followed or not.
