The Civic body in the city has served notices to 16 private hospitals for refusing to accept Covid19 patients referred to them by the AMC.
In all, the civic body had designated 42 hospitals as Covid-19 hospitals and directed them to provide 50% of the total number of beds for patients who were referred by the civic body. The notice was issued after it emerged that 16 of these hospitals were not accepting patients referred to by the AMC and continued to be adamant about not admitting them.
SAL Hospital Thaltej, Sterling Cancer Hospital in Bodakdev, Life care Hospital at Sardar Patel colony, SGVP Hospital at Vaishno Devi Circle, Rajasthan Hospital at Shahibaug, Medilink Hospital at Shyamal and Karnavati Super Speciality Hospital were some of those who were issued the notice.
“This notice is being issued to you as you have deliberately and intentionally not complied with the order dated 16.05.2020 Vide this notice you are hereby called upon to comply with the said captioned order dated 16.05.202. In case you fail to do so it shall be considered that you are deliberately and willfully disobeying the same and thereby are causing grave prejudice to the safety and security of the public at large and the same action shall also entail strict consequences under civil and criminal law,” the notice issued to the hospitals states.
The notice came after several attempts by the AMC to get the private hospitals to comply failed.
