The AMC on Sunday fined Rajasthan Hospital Rs77 lakh and also filed a case against the hospital board management. This comes a week after the civic body issued a show cause notice to the hospital including the trustee for delay in admitting COVID-19 patients which resulted in the death of the patient.
The AMC filed an FIR at the Shahibaug police station against eight board of management members of the hospital as well as 18 trustees. The civic body has under the Epidemic Diseases Act, imposed a penalty of Rs 25 lakh on the hospital while 26 accused hospital members were asked to pay a fine of Rs2 lakh each. It had also earlier issued a notice to the hospital for not reserving 50% of its beds for AMC-referred patients, despite signing an MoU with the local body. The AMC has asked 42 private and corporate-run hospitals to make available 50% of their bed capacity for COVID-19 patients. Earlier the Gujarat High Court had also come down heavily on both the hospital and the AMC in connection with the death of the patient. The court had directed the AMC to take strict action in the matter.
