AMC denotifies 4 hospitals as COVID-19 centres

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has denotified four hospitals that had been notified earlier under The Epidemic Act 1987.

The hospitals that have been denotified are Bodyline in Paldi, Saviour Annex in Ashram Road, Tapan Hospital in Satellite and Tapan Hospital in Rakhiyal, Bapunagar.

Earlier the hospital along with several other private hospitals in the city had been notified for COVID-19 care.

The denotification has come following an inspection by a team of medical officials about the facilities in the hospital.

A four-member committee of zonal assistant professor, zonal deputy health officer, Head of Department of SVP Hospital, Medicine section and OSD of the AMC was made for the same.

The committee visited and inspected the four hospitals.

It found a higher fatality rate, lower beds, low occupancy, less number of patients under treatment in AMC quota beds vis-a-vis private quota beds, lack of proper data management among others.

The committee recommended that the four hospitals be denotified as COVID-19 care centres.
