The Estate Department of the AMC’s West Zone on Friday demolished the illegal construction atop the terrace of HopSkotch pre-school in Sabarmati area.
The civic body has been actively demolishing illegal structures in the city as part of its drive against such encroachments in the last few days.
The civic body has through the present demolitions cleared 3000 sq ft of an area over which a shade had been built. On Thursday, the civic body had demolished illegal constructions of three schools.
In the Kubernagar area, the civic body demolished a commercial structure where 15 shops were operational on the two floors of the building.
The recent demolition was Sabarmati TP Scheme number 21, plot number 29 in which the HopSkotch pre-school was operating. The school had built a shade on the terrace illegally without taking due permission format eg civic body.
Illegal encroachments by schools
On Thursday, a similar demotion was carried out at the DP School in Nava Vadaj where the school had built a video learning hall illegally.
It had also cleared the illegal encroachment of a common road by the AM School in Sabarmati’s Ramnagar area.
On Wednesday, it had freed the margin area that was encroached by the Tree House school that was operational from Bungalow no 7 of Ganeshkunj Society in Ranip.
The two-storey building that was demolished in Kubernagar interestingly had 15 shops in it. The building had been served notice before to free the encroachments but since nothing happened the civic body on Friday demolished it.
The AMC had put a stop to its drive against illegal encroachments due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown. But since the unlock began to be implemented the civic body has resumed the same.
