As Ahmedabad continues to report on an average 200 new COVID-19 cases everyday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has announced 15 new micro containment zones in the city. It has also removed nine from the list. Earlier the total number of micro containment zones in the city was 40. Now, this figure stands at 46.
The areas that have been removed include three in the east zone, one in the north zone, five in the south west zone. This includes Sukhramnagar, Khodiyarnagar and Jantanagar in Gomtipur, Viratnagar and Amraiwadi respectively. Kumbhaji ni chali in Kubernagar, Shrinandnagar Block B in Sarkhej, Vinaykunj Society and Jay Shefali Society in Vejalpur and Javed Park in Maktampura.
Of the new 15 micro containment zones, three are in north-west and south-west zones each , one each in west and central zone, five in east zone and two in south zone of the city. Among the declared micro containment zone is also the Swaminarayan Gaadi Sansthan in Maninagar which has 25 residents in it. In all the total number of houses in the new micro containment zones are 745 which is home to close to 3219 people.
