Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s request to farmers to shift their protests to Haryana or Delhi has triggered a backlash from the neighbouring state. Harayana Home minister Anil Vij called the comment “irresponsible” and said that it only proved that Amarinder Singh was instigating farmers.

At an event in Hoshiarpur district, the Punjab CM had urged the farmers to refrain from protesting in Punjab which had stood by them like a rock in their demands regarding the farm laws. He said the protests were affecting the economic development of the state and were not in the state’s interest. He urged them to put pressure on the Centre instead of holding protests.

Lashing out at Amarinder Singh, minister Anil Vij accused the former of instigating farmers.

In a tweet in Hindi, he said, “Punjab CM Amarinder Singh telling farmers to do whatever they want in Haryana, Delhi but not in Punjab is highly irresponsible. It means you want to disturb the peace in neighbouring Haryana, Delhi. This means he has instigated the farmers.”
