At a time when people are facing the wrath of the coronavirus pandemic in the state and the implications of the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the virus, Congress turncoat Alpesh Thakor, who later joined the BJP, has demanded that the state government should provide relaxation to people in electricity bills for the month of April and May.
Thakor has written a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani demanding the same. In his letter, Thakor has mentioned that due to the prolonged lockdown, people are forced to spend more time at home amid the scorching summer that has resulted in higher electricity consumption. He said the government has given several relaxations to people unable to bear their power bills but that is not sufficient for people.
He has said the Gujarat government must think in this regard and provide some relaxation to people in the electricity bills for the month of April and May and set an example for other states.
