Some top wrestlers of the country, including Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat, have been protesting for the past several days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi over the alleged sexual harassment of seven female wrestlers, including a minor. They all demand arrest of Brijbhushan.
Meanwhile, 2016 Rio Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik said in a press conference at Jantar Mantar,” Those who are speaking in favor of WFI chief and say that we are lying but I say that Brij Bhushan should undergo Narco test under the supervision of the Supreme Court. I challenge the WFI president to take a Narco Test.” She added, ” the seven female wrestlers(who have made the allegations of sexual harassment) should also be subjected to narco-tests and whoever found culprit should be hanged.”
Sakshi said, ” I request the women of the country to support us like the Nirbhaya case. Show solidarity with us as we too are fighting for the rights of women. If we win this battle we will send a strong message but if we lose we will go back 50 years.
The protesting wrestlers have also stated that they will oppose the hosting of events if Brijbhushan Singh is a part of their organisation.
