Akhilesh Yadav Raises Question on Yogi’s Police Action, Said Police Crossed All Limits of Vandalism

Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav attacked the government over police action and arrest those protesting against CAA in Azamgarh and said that the vandalism of police in Azamgarh has crossed all the limits and he is very angry about this action. He said through a tweet, “When will the pill talkers from every platform talk about constitutional values? Striking peacefully is a constitutional right of the people. The police brutality in Azamgarh has crossed all limits and I strongly condemn it! Party MLAs and organizations are serving the people in Bilariaganj.”

 

Protesters started pelting stones at Maulana Johar Ali Park in Bilariaganj town of Azamgarh district on Wednesday at around 4 am. which included all women, children and men. Late night police and administration officials asked people to end the picket citing Section 144. However, if the people did not agree, the park was flooded. After this people got angry and started a fierce demonstration on the road in front of the park on Wednesday. The seven policemen including the SP City were injured. After this the police lathi-charged and left tear gas shells and removed the protesters.

The police had arrested 19 people, including Muslim cleric Maulana Tahir Madani and one woman in case of uproar in anti -CAA protest. Police have identified three people and have declared a reward of 25-25 thousand on them for causing damage to government property. Police claim that a conspiracy was hatched to incite a riot in the district through CAA protests.
