Gujarat has reported 396 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24-hours ending at 5 pm on Saturday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the state’s coronavirus case tally to 13,669, whereas the case count in Ahmedabad alone has crossed the 10,000-mark.
The state also reported 27 fresh deaths that pushed the state’s death toll due to COVID-19 to 829. Out of the 27 deaths, 24 deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad and three deaths have been reported from Surat.
Out of the 396 new cases, 277 cases are of Ahmedabad alone, whereas Surat reported 49 cases and Vadodara reported 35 fresh cases. Gandhinagar has reported nine cases, Junagarh has reported eight cases, Gir-Somnath has reported six cases, and Aravalli has reported five cases. Mehsana and Rajkot have each reported four cases, whereas Tapi and Anand have each reported three cases. Mahisagar, Kheda, Patan, Surendranagar and Amreli have each reported two cases. The districts of Navsari, Porbandar, and Morbi have reported one case each.
With the addition of the 277 fresh cases till 5 pm on Saturday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 10,001—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported 669 deaths—the highest in the state.
Apart from the 10,001 COVID-19 cases reported from Ahmedabad so far, Surat has reported 1,285 cases, followed by Vadodara with 806 cases, Gandhinagar with 210 cases, Bhavnagar with 114 cases, Banaskantha with 99 cases, and Anand with 90 cases. Rajkot has reported 87cases so far.
According to the Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department, out of the total cases, 73 people are in a critical state and put on ventilator support, 6,598 people are stable, 6,169 people have been discharged, and 829 have died.
As far as deaths are concerned, apart from the 669 deaths reported in Ahmedabad, 60 deaths have been reported from Surat and 35 deaths have been reported from Vadodara. Gandhinagar has reported 10 deaths, Anand reported nine deaths, Bhavnagar has reported eight deaths, and Panchmahals has reported six deaths. Banaskantha and Mehsana have reported four deaths each, whereas Aravalli, Kheda, Bharuch, and Sabarkantha have each reported three deaths. Two death each have been reported from Rajkot and Jamnagar, whereas the districts of Botad, Mahisagar, Kutch, and Valsad have each reported one death.
So far, 4.82 lakh people have been placed under quarantine.
