The scheme will be implemented soon in Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot in Gujarat. Besides, if the vehicles belonging to owners of other states breach the rules, the traffic fine memo will be sent to owner of the vehicle and fine will be recovered from him. The action is being taken to implement traffic rules more effectively and to speed up the process.
The pace for sending e-challans to the person, violating traffic rules, was very slow. The fine was imposed for breaking only three rules, now under the smart city project, the citizens of the Ahmedabad will have to follow 16 different traffic rules.
6200 cameras have been installed in these three cities to keep an eye and vehicles like cars, autos, two wheelers and big vehicles have also been included under the scanner.
In Ahmedabad alone, 2400 cameras have been installed, under which any vehicle driver breaching traffic rules can be fined online and memos can be sent to their mobile phones without stopping or disturbing them.
