Ahmedabad: The cases of Covid-19 may have reduced in Ahmedabad, but now other health issues are raising their hood. A whopping 75,342 cases of viral fever have been reported in just 14 days. Against this, 60 cases of malaria and 64 cases of dengue have been reported.
The figures emerged in the data from different hospitals of patients admitted between August 1 and 14, shared by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The number of patients taking outdoor treatment is estimated to be 10 times higher.
The rise in viral cases is being attributed to the dual weather conditions that are currently prevailing in the city. Health experts have cautioned of rise in mosquito-borne diseases as well.
The AMC health department registered over 75,300 cases of viral fever in 14 days where the blood sample did not show the presence of mosquito-borne parasites. In these 14 days, hospitals in the city reported 60 cases of malaria, 64 of dengue, 47 of chikungunya and 3 of falciparum.
A total of 2,258 persons with suspected dengue were tested during this period, of which 64 tested positive. Subsequently, the AMC health department had undertaken a survey of the houses of the infected persons to look for mosquito-breeding spots. Majority of the patients’ homes were found to have such spots.
Breeding spots were found in Sector 5 of Rohitnagar and Bhagyodaya chowk in Gota, Nirantnagar society in Chandlodia, Shriram Apartment in Thaltej, Al Habib flats in Sarkhej, Navi Vadwadi Pol in Dariapur, Udaynagar ni Chali in Indrapuri, Chandralok society in Naroda, Saraswati nagar-2 in Ranip and Rajhans society in Navranpura.
Besides these, the AMC team also surveyed construction sites as part of which it found mosquito-breeding sites at 51 places. All of them were issued notices and Rs 56,000 fine was collected from them.
The team also carried out inspection of 176 educational institutes, malls and commercial complexes, A total of 68 notices were issued for presence of mosquito-breeding sites.
