Gujarat’s additional chief secretary Rajeev Kumar Gupta has announced that shops and commercial establishments in 27 areas of Ahmedabad will have to down shutters by 10 pm. According to the announcement, only medical stores will be allowed to operate beyond the 10 pm guideline.
Notably, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has repeatedly appealed to people, especially youngsters, to wear a mask in the open and maintain social distancing. However, when all these appeals failed to generate the desired results, the 10 pm deadline for shops has been introduced.
Areas where 10 pm deadline has been imposed
The various areas identified by AMC where the 10 pm deadline for shops and commercial establishments has been imposed include Prahladnagar Road, YMCA to Kake-Ka-Dhaba (Karnavati Club Road), Prahladnagar Garden to Palladium Circle (Corporate Road), and Anandnagar Road.
This apart, the 10 pm deadline is also applicable along SG Highway, ISKCON Crossing to Shapath IV and V (service road), Sindhu Bhavan Road, Bopal/Ambli Road, ISKCON to Bopal/Ambli Road, area between ISKCON to Hebatpur Road and Science City Road.
Also, Shilaj Circle to Science City Circle on SP Ring Road, CG Road, Law Garden, Vastrapur Lake area, Mansi Circle to Drive-In Road, Drive-In Road and Honest to Shyamal Crossing have been also included in the list.
Similarly, the 10 pm deadline will be also applicable for IIM Road, Shivranjani to Jodhpur Crossing, area around Royal Akbar Tower, Vishala Circle, Ujala Circle and Shantipura Crossing.
COVID-19 status in Ahmedabad
As per the Gujarat health department, 36,246 cases of the viral infection have been reported in Ahmedabad till September 27. Also, 1,804 people have succumbed to the virus so far. Around 30,135 people have recovered from the viral infection in the city. The city’s tally is increasing by 190-200 cases every day.
AMC video exposes gross violation of COVID-19 norms by Amdavadis
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has released a video, a sort of a reality check, which exposes the gross violation of COVID-19 norms by the citizens.
The video that was shot last week shows people without masks and not abiding the social distancing norms. AMC has time and again requested people to follow safety norms regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
