Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: All the COVID-19 fatalities reported in Ahmedabad in the last three months have been in Ahmedabad city while none has been reported from Ahmedabad rural.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits have been witnessing 150 to 170 cases per day for the last many months. The last reported COVID-19 fatality in Ahmedabad rural was on July 20.
Data as per the daily COVID-19 bulletin released by the Ahmedabad District Panchayat shows that as of October 19 COVID-19 fatality in the district is 58.
2,682 of the total 2,789 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases have been discharged, thus making for a 96% recovery rate as on October 19.
Ahmedabad rural has 49 active COVID-19 cases of which 42 have been admitted to hospitals while seven are being treated at COVID-19 care centres.
Sanand leads with the highest number of confirmed cases in Ahmedabad rural with 638 cases. Sanand and Dholka taluka together accounts for 44% of the total caseload. The two talukas reported 1,220.
Detroj taluka is the least affected with just 30 confirmed cases followed by Dholera with 96 cases. 57,281 people were put under home isolation up to October 19 of which 55,185 completed their quarantine period of 14 days.
Steps taken by the administration
More than 55,000 houses including 3,092 places have been sanitized by district administration. Eight checkpoints have been set up for COVID-19 screening at various places across the district.
1.95 lakh people have been screened at various checkpoints, of which 28 were referred to nearby hospitals after they showed symptoms of the disease.
624 teams of the district administration surveyed nearly 86,000 people.
