Ahmedabad police yet to identify cop who thrashed man inside a car in Jamalpur

The Ahmedabad police has not yet identified the cop who is accused of assaulting a youth in Jamalpur.

A complaint was registered against an unknown cop for assaulting one Junaid Khan, a mechanic. The incident happened near a picket at Jamalpur Darwaza in Jamalpur area of Ahmedabad.

The complaint states that Khan was attacked by a cop in civvies while he was in his car. The attack forced Khan to lose control of his car leading to an accident.

Khan was later admitted to an ICU after the incident

CCTV footage of the incident showed a man in yellow t-shirt and pants, believed to be part of a police team, attacking Pathan with a wooden stick through the window of his car.

Congress MLA Imran Khedawala also met the Ahmedabad city police commissioner to seek action against the cop. A protest was also held in the area demanding that action be taken against the cop.

Earlier a father-son duo was thrashed at a police station in Jamnagar after an argument over violating COVID-19 norms. This is the second such incident benign reported this week.
