Ahmedabad recorded 30 cases of Covid-19 in 2 days

Ahmedabad: The practice of demarcating micro-containment areas made a comeback in Ahmedabad after a gap of nearly six months following a surge in number of fresh Covid-19 cases. In last two days, the city reported 30 new cases. Of these, 16 were recoreded on Wednesday and 14 on Thursday.

Swinging into action, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation  placed 20 houses of Dev Castle-1 in Isanpur in micro-containment.

Five floors of the building have been put under containment.

According to an AMC official, one or two family members from each floor tested positive, prompting the civic body to declare the block as a micro-containment area.

The AMC had discontinued demarcation of micro-containment areas in May in wake of drop in daily cases of Covid-19.

The official said they may now resume it in coming days.

In its release, the AMC said that its health department would undertake house-to-house surveillance and screening on Friday.

Gujarat recorded 42 cases on Wednesday and 40 on Thursday.
