Ahmedabad: The busy Gandhi Bridge will be closed for commuters for next 20 days, starting Sunday, August 8, on one side. This is to allow repair work on the stretch.
According to officials of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, work on repair of the 81-year-old bridge will begin on Sunday. The bridge, which connects the Income Tax Circle in western Ahmedabad with Shahpur in eastern part of the city has become old, because of which its expansion joints are in need to repair.
Both sides will be repaired one after the other to avoid blocking traffic entirely. When one side is closed, the other will remain open.
Both the sides of the bridge are extremely busy junctions.
