The land on which Rakshit Patel, the brother of Ahmedabad City Congress president Shahikant Bhuro, has encroached on despite a court ruling asking him to vacate it belongs to a poor man.
The man, who worked as a house help of a diamond merchant, was given the land by the merchant. Ideally, it should have been inherited by his daughters.
City’s well-known diamond merchant Budhalal Zaveri and his wife had willed the land to Naranbhai, a household help of the merchant who had served them for his entire life.
Rakshit Patel, brother of Ahmedabad city Congress president Shashikant Bhur0, then encroached on the land using a fake will and sale deed.
The diamond merchant Budhalal Zaveri and his wife lived in a bungalow in Ellisbridge opposite Nagri Hospital. Naranbbhai was hired at their place as a household help at the age of 7.
Since then, Naranbhai had been a devout household help and earned the trust of the family. As they grew old, the diamond merchant and his wife wanted to ensure that the man who took care of them for so long was taken care of and so willed their land in his name.
The diamond-merchant and his wife died and the same year, their household help Naranbhai also passed away. Later his daughters Niruben and Varshaben got the documents where the land was willed in the name of their father by the diamond merchant.
One of the willed lands was in Bodakdev which was encroached by Rakshit Patel, brother of Ahmedabad city Congress president.
What is the case
As per the case details, the land belongs to Niruben’s father but Rakshit Patel allegedly used fake documents to encroach upon it as his own. Niruben moved the court and after a prolonged battle she won the case but Rakshit Patel refused to budge from the land.
Niruben in a complaint with the Vastrapur local police said that Ahmedabad city Congress president Shahsikhant Bhur0’s brother Rakshit Patel had threatened to kill her and her family if she stepped on her land.
This threat she said, came even though the court had ruled in her favour and said the land belonged to her. She said Patel and his goons had got a fake will and sales deed for the land and had lost the case twice in court.
