Ahmedabad: ATM theft bid in Naranpura foiled; 1 arrested

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad police arrested two men trying to break open a bank ATM in Naranpura area late on Friday night. The ATM theft bid took place in Naranpura area of the city. Naranpura police have registered a complaint and taken up further investigation.

As per available details of the case, two men had entered an ATM kiosk of HDFC bank in Swaminarayan Avenue in Naranpura area. They were trying to open it at around 2.30 am when they were spotted by a youth. He informed the police control room of the suspicious activity.

On getting the news, Naranpura police immediately reached the spot. On seeing the police, the thieves tried to escape. Bu the police chased them and caught one of them, later identified as Dipak Chaudhary. The other thief managed to flee.

During interrogation, Chaudhary revealed the identity of his associate as Jitendra.

The police have registered an offence against the duo for ATM theft bid and arrested Chaudhary. They also seized the bike that they had used as well as the tool used to break the machine.
