Ahmedabad: The Nikol and Bapunagar diamond market had announce a vacation of 25 days from today. Diwali week has already started and thus this 25 days holiday seems to be a great gift for the diamond industry workers. A large number of public is leaving from Ahmadabad to Saurashtra, mainly people associated to the diamond industry. This results a huge traffic in buses and public transports. The bus fares are rapidly increasing and reached to double today and may increase in further days.
Thousands of Saurashtra residents are living in Nikol and Bapunagar, these 2 areas are considered as mini Saurashtra. For their facility the trains from Ahmedebad to Saurashtra as well as private buses and ST buses are also available. But if they travel from ST or by Indian railways they have to take another vehicle from there to reach to their destination so they mostly preferred private buses. Taking advantage of this, Private carriers increases the fares to double and this inflated price is expected to be increasing throughout the festival week.
In order to accommodate large number of people, ST Nigam had started extra bus services from Geeta Mandir along with the regular buses from Bapunagar and Krishnanagar and if people book more than 50 tickets collectively ST Corporation had also arranged buses their hometown.
